“The screening found a blockage in my neck artery that neither my doctor or I knew I had and I had surgery to fix it before I had a stroke.”
C. Wadsworth,  Enola, PA

1.  Stroke/Carotid Artery Screen …………$45

Uses ultrasound technology to visualize the inside of the carotid arteries in the neck for fatty plaque buildup that could lead to a stroke.  Studies show that blocked carotid arteries cause 70 to 80 percent of strokes.  Stroke is the nation’s third leading killer and the number one cause of nursing home admissions.  2 of 3 stroke victims have no prior symptoms or warning signs.

2.  Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screen …………$45

Uses ultrasound to visualize the aorta in the abdomen for the presence of an aneurysm  - a balloon-like enlargement.  This highly hereditary condition is usually fatal if a rupture occurs.  There are approximately 16,000 deaths each year from ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm.

3.  Peripheral Arterial Disease Screen …………$45

This test screens for arterial disease in the lower legs, which causes leg pain when walking and poor circulation.  This quick and painless test is performed by placing blood pressure cuffs around your arms and ankles and using an ultrasound Doppler device to take your blood pressures.  People affected with peripheral vascular disease (PVD or PAD) have a six to seven times greater risk for heart disease.

4.  Pulmonary Function Screen with Oxygen Saturation …………$25

This non-invasive screening is performed by a certified respiratory therapist to detect Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), a progressive and debilitating lung disease which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis.  COPD is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States.  This test is used to determine lung volume and  capacity and takes dynamic measurements, such as the amount of air you can force out of the lungs during a given time interval.  A blood  oxygen  saturation level and heartrate is also obtained with a painless pulse oximeter on one of your fingertips.  If detected early, COPD is highly treatable.

5.  EKG/Arrhythmia Screen …………$25

Atrial fibrillation is a disorder found in about 2.2 million Americans. During atrial fibrillation, the heart's two small upper chambers (the atria) quiver instead of beating effectively. Blood isn't pumped completely out of them, so it may pool and clot. If a piece of a blood clot in the atria leaves the heart and becomes lodged in an artery in the brain, a stroke results. About 15 percent of strokes occur in people with atrial fibrillation. It is diagnosed with an electrocardiogram or EKG.
